The press release links to a list of funded projects, including one to Wildlife Management Institute (WMI): Building Capacity for Coldwater Habitat Conservation in the Delaware River Watershed (NJ, NY, PA) - $499,100. The EBTJV is grateful to be one of several partners on this project to build capacity for cold-water habitat conservation and brook trout population recovery. Many thanks to NFWF for this opportunity and to WMI for support.
WMI will provide professional services to support this effort, developed by Trout Unlimited (TU), the Northeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (NEAFWA), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the EBTJV. This program will engage a diversity of partnerships, collect and compile new and existing data and plans, provide outreach, education and technical assistance, and develop a strategic action plan in collaboration with partners. This program will set the stage for implementation and the ultimate goal of brook trout recovery, while creating a multi-state model for coordinated stream restoration and conservation at a landscape scale that can be adopted in other watersheds.
